Autism Mom Chats

August 28, 2016

Welcome to autism mom chats. I’ve been an autism mom for 12 years, and feel that along with the title come an overwhelming amount of frustration, exhaustion, and depression. I have been working very hard with Alex every day of his life and have found that with the right state of mind and organization skills, I can still be a mom to my both kids, a wife, a friend, a co-worker, and the woman I always wanted to be for me. That doesn’t mean I don’t ever break down, but then I get up and do what I need to do, and things get better again.

My Alex is the youngest one of my two boys and was diagnosed with high functioning autism at 3. He just started 6th grade and goes to a mainstream public school. I am writing about my experiences and observations about what worked for us and what didn’t. I truly hope you will leave your comments, thoughts and tips, what worked and what did not work for you, your concerns, and any questions or new topic suggestions. Thank you!! ♡ Zuma A.
