I firmly believe that there is only one way to live a healthy lifestyle, really ~ eat whole foods, eat less, exercise, and be happy. Easier said than done (I know!), the temptations are everywhere, chips and dips, fries, milkshakes, ice-cream. Weather you are trying to turn your life towards the better or maintaining a healthier lifestyle, the temptations are tough not to give in. Then the guilt kicks in, and that’s the worst!
I started my path towards healthy living during my early 30s when I felt that my life had spun out of control due to lack of work life balance. And most of the time, I am pretty good at controlling myself and resisting junk food, I just feel so tired when I don’t eat well and don’t exercise regularly! However, even after so many years, a few extra long workdays back to back which, of course, end with heavy comfort food to satisfy my tired soul, can start strong carb cravings and throw me off the healthy path. I try not to let it last for too long and try to motivate myself and get back on track, and I remind myself of these five things…
You are Gaining Health
Don’t think that this is about the lost pounds ~ but think about it is gained health. So throw the scales away, and listen to your body ~ if you feel good, then you are on the right track.
This is not a Deprivation from Yummy Foods.
Don’t think you don’t get to eat fries ~ but think you get to respect your body and feed it ‘the good things’, as Martha says.
You Will Truly Love the New Healthy Foods
Don’t think you will miss food ~ instead, think you will fall in love with different food, kind of like switching from a crazy boyfriend to a nice one. I used to never think that I would crave a superfood kale salad bowl, but I truly do. And you will too, I promise, just give it some time!
You Will Gain a Lot of Energy.
Don’t think you will have to push yourself to exercise ~ but think you will have energy to do fun things and push yourself to do things you thought you couldn’t do.
This is About Being Kind to Your Body.
Don’t think about how hard you make your life ~ but think how much good you will do for you.
So here they are, my five tips to kick off a healthy lifestyle. Please share yours, I would so love to hear from you!!
