How to dress my age have always been an issue for me… possibly because I don’t really feel my age (at least not yet!). When I saw this Zara dress with a white collar ($49!), I just fell in love with it. White collar dresses are definitely in this fall! The problem for me was that these dresses have a bit of a ‘school girl’ vibe, and I was worried it might look ridiculous considering I am a 40 something working mom and most definitely not a schoolgirl. But you know what, who makes the rules on how to dress your age? I love the dress and so here are some reasons why it’s completely okay for me to wear it:
1. In today’s day and age, the old school rules are… old and outdated and are successfully challenged all the time.
2. My energy level should define my age, not a number.
3. By the time I turned 40, I had already developed a sense of personal style, and if the dress I want to wear feels effortless and comfortable (and it does!), then it’s got to be appropriate.
4. If I love it and want it, then I should wear it and not worry about what anyone thinks.
As a side note, as the days finally started getting a bit shorter and crispier here in California, I adjusted my morning routine from berries and yogurt to scones and muffins for breakfast (a dangerous trend!), but oh the sweet smell of freshly baked goodies and coffee are a just must to start the day right…
