I firmly believe that dressing up helps me feel better, but sometimes, when I am feeling under the weather and crummy, a fun bright yellow blouse won’t do much. It probably won’t even look right when I have pale skin and a tired looking face. Having said that, I also believe that when I don’t feel good, it does not mean I should not look my best. On such days, I turn to the most flattering and versatile items in my wardrobe ~ my black basics.

Last Sunday I woke up with a sore throat, and it did not go away after I had my coffee. Not the best timing I have to say ~ I planned to go to a store to get a few plants for my garden and later take a red eye to the East Coast where the temperature is below 0! Well, as long as I don’t have fever, I thought, I should go on with my day as planned. So I dragged myself to the store. I wore my black turtleneck, dark blue skinny jeans, and, since the forecast promised rain, dark blue rain boots. To brighten up the outfit a bit, I paired it with nude quilted jacket ~ can never go wrong with this combo! Since the forecast for the day promised rain, I wore my rain boots. And most importantly, in spite of the gloomy weather, I wore my big sunglasses ~ the magic tool to hide away the window to my crummy feeling soul.
