Wardrobe Emergency: Fast Fashion Store to the Rescue

December 7, 2015

It’s Monday again! But the good news is, it’s December and everything looks so beautiful and festive! Last week was quite exhausting and a bit unusual for me ~ I had to stay out of town an extra day for business which stressed me out ~ first, I don’t take changes well unless I decide to make them, second, I needed to rearrange babysitting back home, and third, I had nothing to wear because when I travel for business (unlike when I travel for pleasure), I pack very little, not a thing more than I need. But I think I handled it well or as well as I could, including the wardrobe emergency ~ it’s the holiday month and unplanned shopping trip for work clothes was not in my budget (I am really trying to stick to my holiday budget rules!).

Here, the practicality of separates and fast fashion stores came to the rescue! For my original day of travel I packed a red skirt, beige blouse, black cardigan (which I always carry in my bag), and black pumps (you can see the look here). So to save money, I thought to use my black cardigan and wear it with a black skirt that I thought I could find in H&M near the hotel. The look turned out to be completely different ~ red, beige, and black vs. black, white, and black, and it cost me $35! I actually love this H&M knit pencil skirt  for its vibrant pattern and flattering and comfortable fit. It is versatile and will work with many black or white separates in my wardrobe. Getting held up an extra day was annoying to deal with, but hey you gotta look at the positives! A new adorable skirt and the feeling of getting home being that much sweeter.
